Prepare for the arrival of ‘The Hood Factor’
Our ideas from Wednesday about the rap and debate became something of an X Factor parody. The issues were still there but a lot of it was cut for time, like my rap was shorted to a couple of lines and the chorus. It was interesting thought since the change made the video more interesting to what and it was funny and sort of insightful as well. It could have used a lot of polish but I was happy with what we created :)
To video the video here is the link
I wish I had a change to edit the footage though since there were a lot of bits in the video that lacked the polish which I know I could have helped sort out but I think Ryan did an excellent job with the little time we had.
Besides from recording the video we had to set up our artwork which the gorgeous Carmen came up with. A mannequin with pictures of the old and young with the lost generation in the middle in black and white (the sort of gap if you will) I liked the idea and it was visually interesting than having a standard poster, I’m proud of her. it brought a new dimension to our piece.

A long wait until Showtime
The last day of a long week finally comes to a close. With the artwork done and the videos on YouTube everything was in place. The only thing left to do was prepare the space for our Transmedia experience and perform.
There wasn’t much in the way of talking because we thought it would be better to remain quiet throughout the performance but we could speak if spoken to. For me it was hard to see how everything went because Carmen and I were next to our artwork the whole time but the little glimpses I did it looked like everyone was having fun. The apps took a while to load though so it was a somewhat sluggish performance but it was interesting and something new to be a part of.
After the performance we got in a circle for feedback and questioning. We were all still in character but towards the end things got a bit silly with strange names and jokes being thrown out and a few of use couldn’t keep in the laughter. A lot of good questions came up like why were we all grumpy? I can speak from my character because after all I wasn’t actually myself I was ‘Treacle the rapper’. So I visualised him being bummed out over the controversy from ‘The Hood Factor’ and all the press he has been getting over wearing a hoody and being labelled. It was quite fun to remain in character even when being told to twirl (which treacle doesn’t) and other things. I only broke out of character once and that was because Ria’s laugh was contagious lol. But I was happy I kept it together even till the end with the claps.
It has been a great experience working with mark ashmore and learning about Transmedia has been fun. Despite me being somewhat of a tech geek I’m not entirely hooked on this style of theatre just yet. But it’s interesting to see how technology and mobiles can be used to create something different and unique. Plus learning about SCVNGR was cool (although i couldn’t find the app) All in all it’s been a fun week.
Now next week unit 6 presentation! :( And unit 8 essay!! Double :(
